Painful Pleasures

Painful Pleasures, a long-time Shero client, had started their Magento to Shopify migration with another agency to reduce ongoing maintenance costs and improve UX. The project stalled and they came back to Shero to complete it. In addition to finishing the migration, the project required advanced customizations to support their business requirements and desired customer experience.

Shero took over the stalled project and mapped each required feature to the right approach, using a combination of Shopify API, Shopify Scripts, Shopify Functions, custom front ends, and third-party apps. For features not native to Shopify, the team drew on their deep Magento expertise to build custom solutions including customer migrations, order history, store credits, gift cards, and wishlists.

A key complexity of the project was making multiple advanced features work both independently and in conjunction with each other. For example, a customer using the bulk order form needed to select from many product variants while also receiving B2B pricing logic, requiring three separate features to work together seamlessly. Shero's solution architects and developers worked through all possible scenarios to deliver a robust, interconnected set of customizations that met Painful Pleasures' specific business needs.

Taking over a stalled migration meant inheriting incomplete work while managing a frustrated client. Shero had to assess what had been built, fill in the gaps, and deliver a fully functional Shopify store with complex custom features on top, all while restoring the client's confidence in the project.
