Last updated: October 2026
This guide covers 30 Shopify agencies that work with US brands, sorted into Platinum, Premier, and Plus by the tier each one holds in Shopify's Partner Directory today.
Every tier below was checked on the agency's own directory profile on October 1, 2026, the day Shopify's quarterly tier update took effect. Nine agencies are now in a different tier than our March edition showed, so the sections changed. Shero is one of them: we moved up to Platinum this quarter.
The order inside each tier is alphabetical and does not reflect any preference. I know most of the founders of these agencies personally. Each profile covers what the agency specializes in, who they're a good fit for, and clients you can check yourself.
Quick snapshot: 30 Shopify agencies across 3 tiers
Here is how the 30 agencies split by tier:
| Tier | Agencies | Best for | Projects from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platinum | 14 | The largest enterprise builds and migrations | $50K |
| Premier | 8 | Enterprise work with smaller teams and more senior time per account | $25K |
| Plus | 8 | Focused vertical or service expertise | $5K |
Which agencies changed tiers since March 2026
Shopify updates partner tiers every quarter, on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. Here is who moved since our March edition:
| Agency | March 2026 edition | Directory, October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Shero Commerce | Premier | Platinum |
| Avenue Z | Premier | Platinum |
| Barrel | Premier | Platinum |
| Bear | Premier | Platinum |
| Ambaum | Plus | Premier |
| Americaneagle.com | Plus | Premier |
| Electric Eye | Plus | Premier |
| Irish Titan | Plus | Premier |
| Zaelab | Premier | Plus |
Tiers move in both directions, so we recheck the directory before every update.
What the Shopify partner tiers actually mean
Shopify relaunched its Partner Program in January 2025 with five tiers for service partners: Registered, Select, Plus, Premier, and Platinum. According to Shopify's tiering guide, placement is based on commercial impact alone. Certifications no longer count toward a tier.
An agency qualifies through the stronger of two revenue measures, plus a minimum number of new merchants it brought to Shopify:
| Tier | New referral and co-sell revenue | Existing merchant revenue | New merchants |
|---|---|---|---|
| Select | $100K+ | $500K+ | 1 Plus or 10 Standard |
| Plus | $500K+ | $2.5M+ | 2 Plus or 40 Standard |
| Premier | $2M+ | $10M+ | 4 Plus or Enterprise |
| Platinum | $5M+ | $25M+ | 6 Plus or Enterprise |
Revenue also counts over a trailing five years. New merchants count over five years for Select and Plus, and over two years for Premier and Platinum.
Here is how the 837 tiered service partners serving the US break down today, according to Shopify's Partner Directory:

A tier measures the business an agency has brought to Shopify. It says nothing about team size or technical range. A 15 person Platinum shop focused on fashion brands may lack the depth for a complex B2B migration with ERP integration.
Use tier as a starting filter, then judge the agency on capabilities, people, and whether they have solved your problem before. If your store does $10M+ a year, I would not go below Plus.
How to actually evaluate a Shopify agency
A pretty portfolio wins agency deals all the time, and it says little about how your project will go. In 16 years of watching brands pick agencies, the best predictor of success has been the people on the account, ahead of price or case studies.
I have seen brands pick an agency on the strength of a pitch deck, then watch the senior team that sold the project disappear after kickoff and hand the work to junior staff. Ask who will be on your account and how long those people have been at the agency. That conversation tells you more than any portfolio.
Here is how we would weigh the decision:

1. Ask what platforms they have migrated from
Every agency in Shopify's directory has Shopify experience. The question is whether they understand the platform you are leaving. An agency that has done complex Magento or Salesforce Commerce Cloud migrations knows where Shopify Plus is strong and where it needs workarounds.
2. Post-launch support model
The build is about 30% of the relationship. The other 70% is what happens after launch. Ask about retainer structure, marketing, SEO, response times, and who you will work with once the project team rolls off.
3. Technical vs. creative balance
Agencies lean either design first or engineering first. A brand that needs complex ERP integration should not hire a design agency, however good the portfolio looks, and a brand that needs a redesign should not hire a pure engineering shop.
4. References from your weight class
A brand doing $2M a year online has very different needs than one doing $50M. Ask for references from brands of similar size and complexity. If they cannot produce them, that tells you something.
5. Niche expertise
Look for a clear niche: B2B, CPG, beauty, outdoor, alcohol, or migrations. A specialist who has solved your exact problem three times is worth more than a generalist who has solved a hundred different problems once.
Questions to ask a Shopify agency before you hire
We put together the questions we would ask if we were hiring an agency ourselves. Use them on every call.
How much does a Shopify agency cost by partner tier?
Platinum agencies take projects from $50K to $200K and up, Premier agencies from $25K to $200K, and Plus partners from $5K to $75K. Prices also vary by location, team size, and experience, so use these ranges to set expectations before proposals come in.

Best for: Mid market and enterprise brands with complex migrations, multi market rollouts, or headless builds.
eHouse
ehousestudio.com | Charleston, SC | Platinum

sherocommerce.com | Red Hook, NY | Platinum

Yes, we are listing ourselves.
We have been building eCommerce since 2010, with 65 people across the US, UK, Albania, and Finland. We take the projects other agencies find difficult: migrations with tens of thousands of SKUs and custom pricing logic, B2B work that goes past native Shopify tools, and ERP, PIM, and fulfillment integrations that hold up in production.
We also do marketing, SEO, and CRO in house. We have worked on Magento, BigCommerce, and WooCommerce, so we know the system you are leaving as well as the one you are moving to.
Best for: Mid market and enterprise brands ($5M to $200M+ GMV) with complex migration, B2B, or integration needs that want senior people on the account from start to finish.

Best for: Mid market manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers that need ordering portals, ERP integration, and complex wholesale workflows.

For Anatomie it supports a Shopify Plus store, including a design update and conversion work ahead of Black Friday that Bemeir reports led to record holiday results. For Alumni of NY it built a custom Shopify theme with easier content management. Bemeir also lists 60+ technology partnerships across payments, shipping, and tax.
Best for: Brands on Magento or another platform that want a migration partner who knows both systems.
Ethercycle

Best for: Mid market and enterprise B2B brands that need SAP or ERP integration alongside Shopify.
When you should NOT hire an agency
Not every store needs an agency, and that is coming from someone who runs one.
If you are doing under $1M in annual revenue and your needs are simple (pick a theme, set up products, connect Klaviyo), a freelancer at $75 to $125 per hour will serve you better than an agency at $150 to $200+ per hour. You will get more attention and spend less.
A Shopify development agency makes sense when the work outgrows one person: multi warehouse fulfillment, B2B plus DTC on the same store, complex ERP integrations, headless architecture, or migrations with 10,000+ SKUs.
| Your situation | Better choice | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| Under $1M a year, theme setup, products, Klaviyo | Freelancer | $75 to $125 per hour |
| Project budget under $25K | Freelancer or small Plus partner | $5K to $25K |
| B2B plus DTC, ERP integration, 10,000+ SKUs | Agency | $25K and up |
Conclusion
Before you sign, ask every agency on your shortlist for the most complex project they have completed that looks like yours, then ask to speak with that client. Their answer will tell you more than any list, this one included.
If your project involves a migration, B2B, or ERP integration, tell us what you are working with and we will give you an honest read on scope, timeline, and budget.
