Vienna Beef Site Launch on BigCommerce Enterprise

Introduction

The Vienna Beef food company is renowned for producing high-quality hot dogs and sausages. With roots dating back to the late 1800s, the Chicago-based company is an iconic national brand revered for its time-honored recipes and integrity of all-natural ingredients. From hot dog stands and ballparks to local supermarkets, Vienna Beef has garnered a loyal following nationwide.

Migration to BigCommerce Enterprise

You do not become a household name like Vienna Beef without wide distribution capabilities, a strong B2B component and of course, a first-rate website to back it up. Vienna Beef came to us via our partner agency Orbit (thanks, team!) because they needed to migrate to a platform that supports businesses who work with many vendors and third parties like Goldbelly and ShipStation. Their primary goal was to automate the purchasing process for vendors which, up until this point was manually based due to the many integrations required to accommodate different vendor platforms.

The Shero team recommended a migration from WooCommerce to BigCommerce Enterprise, a natural choice for businesses like Vienna Beef. Having the best API in the market for businesses with many programs that need to communicate, BigCommerce Enterprises made sense. Also, BCE supports complex syncs between vendors and third parties, a crucial component of the purchasing process.

Vienna Beef, for instance, sells products on Amazon and Goldbelly in addition to its own website. For better order tracking, we developed an app that consolidates all daily orders across platforms and enters them into their ERP, Deacon. This allows the company to easily view and track consolidated daily orders more efficiently.

The team also developed two next-level features that complemented the project. To simplify content management, they installed the Shogun app and created many custom templates that can be repurposed across all pages.

To provide even greater optionality for vendors, the team added a ‘datepicker’ which allows clients to choose when they want the order to be delivered. The team added two customizations that prompt the shipping method to load via vendor and calculate the cheapest delivery method based on the selected dates. Now that is service.

In addition to eliminating cumbersome procurement procedures, Big Commerce Enterprise transformed the overall site with a unique branded design and an intuitive, dynamic mega menu.
